On a normal holiday, a hotel is where you sleep between adventures. On a medical trip, it's where you'll spend most of your recovery — which makes it a much bigger decision than it first appears.
Distance to your clinic beats a nice view
A hotel 5 minutes from your clinic beats a stunning Bosphorus view 40 minutes away, especially in the first days after a procedure. We book patients within a short transfer of their treatment location specifically to reduce unnecessary travel time while recovering.
What actually matters for a recovery-friendly stay
- A lift (not just stairs) and step-free access from the entrance
- Blackout curtains and a quiet room away from street noise or lifts
- Room service or nearby food options that don't require a long walk
- Air conditioning you control — temperature regulation matters post-surgery
- Staff used to hosting international medical travellers, not just tourists
Old City vs. modern Istanbul
Sultanahmet and the Old City are beautiful for sightseeing before your procedure, but many clinics sit in more modern districts like Şişli or Levent — closer to hospitals, with easier transfers. We typically recommend splitting your stay: explore the Old City before treatment, recover somewhere quieter and closer to your clinic after.
It's already included — you don't have to research this yourself
Every HealVoyage package includes a hand-picked hotel chosen for your specific treatment and recovery needs, not a generic booking-site pick. We've stayed in these hotels ourselves before recommending them.
